Let the lake be your starting point
Eastern Townships Tourism describes lakeside skating in Magog, while the city lists the facilities beside Lake Memphrémagog. For your winter moment, choose a small pedestrian area with access and conditions that suit your group. Look for a colour on the water, the outline of the mountains or a detail along the shore. On your own, note what catches your eye; with others, each person can point out a detail. Keep the route short enough to return at your own pace.
Skate when the trail is open
The City of Magog describes an ice trail with two loops, Merry and Cabana, lighting and warming shelters at its ends. If you have skates and the city confirms an opening that suits your outing, skating can be your main activity. Check the municipal condition table before leaving and choose how long to stay once you arrive. These facilities depend on weather and ice; seeing them on a map does not confirm that they are available.
Let the outing take another shape
If the ice trail is closed, respect the closure whether walking or skating. A short walk in a permitted pedestrian area, a downtown detour or time indoors can take its place. Check your route, access and return options before leaving. Our suggestion stays flexible: a few minutes of observation can be enough, without new equipment or a shopping stop to extend the outing.
