Between Christmas and New Year: Québec City’s Kaléidoscopes in 2026

After the Christmas markets, keep one meeting place and a visiting window for the year-end performances.

Between Christmas and New Year, Kaléidoscopes offers another Old Québec outing: December 27–31, 2026, daily from 2 to 9 p.m., with free admission. Presented by the German Christmas Market, the event combines music, theatre and mural art, with shows on three stages. It gives you a dated option for the days after Christmas. [1]

Keep an afternoon or early evening free, then choose one priority once the daily programme is available. You can add a second place if the group feels like it. With children or relatives who prefer a short visit, agree on your return time before heading out.

After Christmas, choose a different gathering

The German Christmas Market announces its edition for November 19–December 23, 2026. The Grand Christmas Market at Le Grand Marché de Québec runs November 21–December 24. Kaléidoscopes begins on December 27: these dates distinguish market visits before Christmas from the performances at the end of the year. [2][3][1]

For an outing after Christmas, choose a date between December 27 and 31. If you are gathering visitors who have arrived for the holidays, send them the event name and your chosen meeting place. That avoids arranging a market visit on a day after its announced closing date. [1][2][3]

Pick a visiting window, then an activity

Kaléidoscopes runs daily from 2 to 9 p.m. The event features music, theatre and mural art; the detailed daily programme is not yet available. [1]

Choose arrival and return times that suit you, then pick an activity once its time is published. For a short visit, begin with one priority. Allow yourself to reduce the time outdoors if the weather or the group’s energy changes, without needing to replace every stop you remove.

Give the meeting point a precise name

The announced places are Place D’Youville, Place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville and the Hôtel-de-Ville gardens. This family event offers three free performances each day on each of its three stages. The artists and individual performance times still need confirmation. [1]

Name one place in your invitation and identify a landmark on your map. Keep another place as a possibility, deciding whether to move according to access and the day’s conditions. With a stroller or someone who walks for shorter periods, a single square can be the whole outing. Agree on that option beforehand.

Prepare the bus journey and return separately

Admission is free and the tourism listing recommends taking the bus. Any reservation requirements still need confirmation for the activities you choose. Check bus fares and schedules for your journey before setting out. [1]

Look up the outward and return journeys from your meeting point, then keep the details offline if that helps. Leave a margin for departing before your intended visit ends. Afterwards, everyone can describe one sound, scene or colour they remember: one memory is enough, without visiting every place.

Before you go
  • Confirm the daily programme, artists, individual performance times and any reservation requirements.
  • Choose your bus journey and check access conditions for your date.
